What this program is
The ACT rewards a different profile from the SAT. It is longer, faster, and content-broader: English runs seventy-five questions in forty-five minutes, Reading asks for four passages in thirty-five, and Science is a data-interpretation section that punishes students who try to read it like a textbook. Almost every student who is new to the ACT loses more points to the clock than to the content.
So the program runs in two halves. The first builds fluency section by section — the grammar rules, the math topics, the reading approach, the three question archetypes in Science — until accuracy is high without time pressure. The second half puts the clock back on and drills pacing benchmarks, skip discipline, and the order in which to attack each section.
Superscoring and section retesting make timing strategy a real decision, not a detail. Your coach maps which sections to prioritise across which sittings, so effort goes where it moves the composite.
What the plan covers
Diagnostic and section triage
A full-length, timed ACT, scored by section and skill. We identify which section is furthest from your composite target and which one is cheapest to lift — they are rarely the same section, and the order matters.
English — grammar and rhetoric at speed
Punctuation, sentence structure, verb forms, modifiers, transitions and the rhetorical-skills questions. English is the most learnable section on the test: the rules are finite and the question stems repeat.
Math — sixty questions in sixty minutes
Pre-algebra through trigonometry, sequenced by frequency. We teach the two-pass method — clear the routine questions first, bank the time, then return — because leaving easy points behind on page four is the usual failure mode.
Reading — four passages, thirty-five minutes
Passage-mapping, question-first order, and the difference between a paraphrase and an inference. We set a per-passage clock and practise abandoning a question that has already cost too much time.
Science — data, not knowledge
Charts, experiment summaries and conflicting-viewpoints passages. Almost no outside science knowledge is required; the section is a reading test in a lab coat, and it is coachable in weeks once a student stops trying to understand every experiment.
Full-lengths, pacing and the optional essay
Timed full-lengths on a fixed cadence with live review, plus Writing-test coaching for the schools on your list that still ask for it.
