What this program is
A plan is not a behaviour. Plenty of households finish a financial course with a good document and change nothing, because the obstacle was never information — it was a spending pattern, an avoidance habit, an unspoken disagreement between partners, or a system that required willpower every single month.
Coaching works on that layer. Sessions are short, frequent and specific: what happened since last time, what got in the way, what one change is worth making this fortnight. Between sessions you have a small number of concrete actions, not a curriculum. Progress is measured in things that actually moved — a standing transfer set up, a subscription cancelled, a card paid down, a conversation finally had.
Coaches are trained to stay inside the coaching remit. They do not recommend investments or products, and when a question needs a licensed professional or a plan needs building from scratch, they say so and point you to the right program or profession.
How coaching runs
Baseline session
Ninety minutes to map income, spending, debts and goals, and to name the two or three things that have actually blocked progress before. The output is a short, honest starting point rather than a spreadsheet nobody opens.
A budget that survives the month
Building a spending plan around the household's real patterns, with buffers for the irregular costs that break most budgets. Categories are cut to the fewest that still tell you something.
Automation and friction design
Setting up transfers, sinking funds and account structures so that saving happens on payday and overspending needs a deliberate act. Structure beats discipline over a long enough period.
Debt and the order of attack
A written payoff order with the arithmetic shown, plus the behavioural argument for and against paying the smallest balance first. You choose; the coach makes sure you choose knowingly.
The partner conversation
A structured monthly money conversation with an agenda, a time limit and rules that keep it from becoming a fight about character. For single-income and single-parent households, this becomes the review-and-reset session.
Review and hand-off
What changed, what is now automatic, and what to watch. Coaching is meant to end — the last session is about the household running its own system.
